Some feel that salicylic acid burns less than benzoyl, but they're about the same in their effectiveness. I've used both, and I haven't seen any major differences. Both work as peeling agents, both fight black heads and acne by killing bacteria, etc

Use a toner on the blemish 3 times a day. I recommend Clean & Clear Toner for sensitive skin. It helps get rid of blemishes without irritating your skin. Also, try Clearasil Ultra Vanishing Cream. It may take up to a week for severe breakouts, but about 3-4 days for a blemish or two. Just dab a little of the cream on a Q-tip or your clean finger, and dab it on the blemish. Rub it in on the blemish only. This may or may not cause drying out of your skin, so follow with a light moisterizer.
The maximum salicylic acid I've seen in any facial care produce is 2% and that's the amount the wash contains. As for the cream, try using it twice a day, every day.
